Happy Friday, Everyone! What’s on tap for the weekend? I am one tired chica today. Between work which is VERY busy but in a good way, going out for drinks with work peeps (oh poor me, I know), teaching Zumba®, and now taking on a few nutrition clients, I am BEAT. Craving carbs today like whoa, too.

I decided to show you what my “oat bran concoction” looks like before I mix it all up.

1/3 cup of Bob’s Mill Inn oat bran, 1 tbsp chia seeds

Water added to oat bran and chia seeds with crunchy PB and a little Truvia mixed in, and add-ins of blueberries and greek yogurt are on the side: (Yesterday’s post shows my breakfast in final form)

This is so incredibly delicious. I have been eating this for years and I have not gotten sick of it… yet 🙂

I am a total bum and could not stomach the thought of ANOTHER salad for lunch. When I am this exhausted, I just want to eat comforting foods, and oatmeal totally does the trick for me. I ran out to Starbucks and got my favorite:

Oatmeal with nuts & crunchy PB added in, with cinnamon, nutmeg, and coco powder sprinkled on top. I know I eat a lot of oatmeal and oat bran, but I LOVE IT. I’m not bs-ing here – I truly only eat things I enjoy eating. It’s a comfort food to me. I love my carbs and grains! I also got an iced coffee with SF vanilla syrup and a good amount of whole milk. I usually drink hot coffee black but I love iced coffee with WHOLE milk. Skim milk doesn’t get it light enough. SF syrup is not something I have often, either, but I just wanted it today. Everything in moderation, ya know.

Anyone ever get sick of “typical lunch/dinner foods” and eat breakfast instead? Honestly, I don’t like to force myself to eat things I don’t want to eat. Sounds so simple but I know a lot of people out there eat things not because they like them, but it’s what they “should” be eating. I find that to always backfire. That is why I wanted to share this today. I’m a firm believer in that you have to find foods you ENJOY eating that won’t wreak havoc on your waistline, obviously, because that is the only way to implement real and long-lasting lifestyle changes. I don’t believe in “diets” – I believe in a lifestyle. Any time I’ve forced myself to eat something I should eat rather than something I actually wanted, I ended up having a free-for-all in the kitchen; I over-ate and felt disgusting after. So not worth it. I try my best to listen to myself and what my body is telling me. I wanted oatmeal and iced coffee, so I got it. End of story. Do I do this all the time? No, because I think it’s important to have a variety… but I listened to myself and ate what I was in the mood for. Just like I do everyday. Again, this is what works for me, and my own personal thoughts and opinions.

Spoonful of Fit added this photo on her FB page today and I had to share it. It is much needed words of wisdom I needed to read today while being so lethargic and “out of it”.

“Be kind to yourself”, – that is me today. Listening to myself, giving myself what I want, and not forcing to do the opposite.

“Don’t compare yourself to others” – something I always am in progress of working on.

Anyway –  another Trader Joe’s run tonight to pick up dinner…and I totally ended up coming out of the store with way more than I originally went in for. Too many good foods to pass up! I will post the salad concoction I made tonight soon. Have a great weekend 🙂

Anyone else need reminders on staying motivated?
